Long time readers remember me as Cpl M, others have known me as nothing but Marcus, yet some know me as plain ole Redshirt, producer of the You Served Radio show of which CJ is a host.

I’m currently planning a special segment this Tuesday at 9 PM eastern that will feature some of you. I would like to have those who have been scammed out of money, electronics, etc to contact me as soon as possible if interested. You’ll come on the show Tuesday, tell your story, and talk with CJ and Troy for a few minutes.

Here are the requirements:
1. Live in the US (don’t want anyone having to spend a ton of cash to call in)
2. Be a victim of a scam resulting in the loss of money, electronics, or other physical property.
3. Be available between the hours of 9 and 10 eastern time on Tuesday, August 10th.
4. Speak fluent English and be easily understood (this is radio, afterall).

Contact me by email (marcus-at-youserved-dot-com) if interested. I likely won’t see comments on this post in time for the show, so it is very important for you to email me. When contacting, provide the following information.

1. First and last name (you’ll have the option of not using your last name on air)
2. Location
3. Phone number you’ll use to call in
4. Scammer’s name(s)
5. Website where contacted by scammer
6. What you lost (money, electronics, etc)

I look forward to hearing from you!

  3. Hi my name is Bernadette Bly from Australia and have beeen scamed out of about $25,000USD from a contact on “matchmaker” of a person who was posing as a soldier in Afghanistan,Kabul on a peace keeping mission, I am a retired Australian soldier and am a widow and this person was a widower, looking for love as I was on the internet he proposed and we were to marry in a few weeks and I sent over money to a bogus estate agent for $20,000USD for a holding fee in California for a house. This soldier has to children and I do to, and our photos are being used for scammimg purposes can you please let me know of a way to let this poor soldier know that his photos are being used to scam women out of money by a bogus person, or let me know of a site I can post his picture to locate him as need to warn him of this scam.

  4. How can make sure the soldier that they miss represented is safe from them?

  5. Hallo my name is lynette I live in Perth Western Australia. I have been talking and falling for a guy called Chris Jones who told me he is from usa and he lost his wife in a car accident 6 yrs ago. He said he was serving on a “secret’ Base in afgahnastan and wasnt allowed to call me on a regular phone so would I pay to have him call me?. He even sent me an official looking document to set up the telephone connection which was to be through a comapany called mil- Sat. I was to cost me $850.00 Australian dollars had I paid which I didnt as the red flags were waving from the micro second he mentioned money because he had already told me he was an Admiral I met him on Lovefriend dating for over 50′s which is a joke because he said he was 47yrs old his sons name is Ryan and he said he has a house in Dallas texas which I doubt because he didnt know that they have oil well in Texas too!. Got very angry at me for questioning him on that one!. When under pressure this guy uses improper English and says things the wrong way around. Also seems to always be online so am sure they work in shifts all pretending to be the same Chris Jones. He insisted I contacted him and IM”d him everyday (and was incredibly controlling about that) on Yahoo his email address is chrisjonescares@y7mail.com I have photos and a copy of the form to send the money to the us military if anyone feels they are currently involved with this scammer. His story is he falls in love really quickly and promises he is retiring from the navy mid 2012 and will be coming to live in Auistralia with his Son… If that was even remotely true I will be there on the dock and he isnt gonna like his welcoming committee……..

  6. I would like to know where or how a person can check if a soldier is legit. I have an APO number and his camp name and he is in Afghanistan. Internet is a wonderful tool. People must learn to Google. If you are not sure, type in your question and see what comes up. I was scammed in December. Not nice at all. Im in South Africa. One tip, check the soldier’s name tag on the profile pic and compare to the person. The guy who chatted to me, his surname ended in an “os” and only now I realised and saw on his pic his surname ended in an “ez”. Small little things like that makes a difference. I dont think the Military will mis-spell a soldier’s name and just leave it like that. No no. I Googled the leave form application. Completely different to the one the scammer supplies. Ladies, trust your instinct and use Google.Check up on things. Its your right. Does a person REALLY have to pay for the soldier’s vacation application and his flight tickets? What is the actual retirement age for a soldier. There is no such thing as well that the soldiers are not allowed to receive mail. It just has to go via HQ in USA. If you find something suspect or that you dont like or agree with, cut the guy off and report and block user. Finished.

    • I am chatting with a man named Sgt Craig Williams he says he is the Army I met him on BeNaughty .com he gave me his birthday and where he lives and his daughter name told me he been divorced for five years now he sent me a a few pics of himself two with his room mate, he told me he was leaving afgha in Aug 22nd for good and retiring he told me what ever I wanted to ask him go ahead so I did so far he has not asked for any money which is a good thing but still we chat every morning like clock work he emails me he had on his uniform in all four pics I pray he is not a scammer.because. Like I told him I have been scammer before I have kids, my friend tell every man I come across is not a scammer

      • Kelly tell him to email you from his Military email account it should end in.Mil and when he emails you send him an email back and if it comes back undeliverable he is a scammer he’s not going to tell you he is a scammer NEVER trust ANY Man that finds YOU on any social site and then tells you he is Military they will wait now they know not to beg for money right away now remember the US Military takes care of its own and they will NOT need ANY of your money nor assistance for ANY reason the fact that you say you chat with him every Morning is suspect REAL US Military members have no time to sit on the Computer and chat for hours at a time but scammers have all the time in the world to just that. if the email address ends in anything beyond .Mil it is a scammer .

The fact that he is retiring in August also sounds like he is about to try to set you up for the retirement scam retirement nor leave has to be paid for again US Military will not need your Money for any reason anything to do with Nigeria or Diplomat is a SCAM.Anonn

      • Kelly when I googled that Name I came up with this……………Sgt Jerold Craig Williams (1945 – 1989) – Find A Grave Photos A US Marine that has passed away so it would seem that this is a scammer using a fallen Marines Middle and last Name.hope this helps.Anonn

    dianadina250@yahoo.com

  8. dear marcus,
can you help me how to find where the scammer came or where are they,if they never give their detail information?i read stories from the girls, and people asked about project director in iraq from us airforce named mark henderson, and they seem to have the same story with me.i knew him from dating site in 2012,i stopped to contact him again after we chat for sometimes,i’m sure something wrong with him,i don’t know where is he exactly because he never let me know his detail information.i have some pictures of him.
    regards,
    dianadina250@yahoo.com

    • hello diana,
i met Mark Henderson from dating in Asia and i found his profile/picture is fake profile.he told the same story like his story from last 2/3 years,or maybe more.his email now is mark_us17@yahoo.com,and he has new account in facebook,he is always hiding, didn’t want to show his face.of course because he put a fake profile, and that’s make him banned from the dating site!

      Vivi

      • in regards with mark henderson,he said he was us airforce base pilot engineer but boston base??how d u found out that it was a fake profile or fake photo??please i need to know some info…just want to know if he really exist.

  9. i think or i am pretty sure i am being scammed,
he found me on Are you intrested ( face book ) his name is Brown, Collins
he did not ask for money yet but he started with the soby story of the dead wife, the teenage girl he has
both parents dead, posted pictures of what he says is him with the military uniform and as a civilian
is he a scammer or not?? we’ll see i will play along

  10. anybody has a Brown Collins after them?

  11. I also was also chatting with a guy name Sgt Kenny Purple from the U.S army he had on the uniform but some thing was wrong, when I told him that my nephew is in the army as well he got offended because my nephew could not find his name in the data base even though they are from different states. Then on the other hand he did not want me to tell any body he was in the military he did not want to loose his job supposedly, one day my friend went ans googled his name under scammer and found his pic written on it FAKE on all four pic i confronted him about it, he insisted that some body is trying to set him up so he had profile removed form Face book.he even sent me pics of his son and daughter the son don’t even look like him at all he wanted me to put money on a phone line so we can chat with unlimited calls i don’t know if that part is true.

    • Kelly that part is NOT true you were smart to follow your gut instinct he is definitely a scammer as they do NOT have to pay to call home this is the old sattelite phone scam what really happens is either they beg for the most recent expensive cellphone and ask for you to send it to them OR they beg for money for a fake phone line and say that is the only way they can talk to you on the phone when the truth is all they do is add credits to their phone like a prepaid card and then they start to call you Great Job Anonn

  12. I am on match.com and I have identified 7 scammers (sad but true); Dave Robles, Wilfred James, Donald Rivera, Joseph Adamson, Jason Lee, Cynric Laidlaw & Frank Schiller.
Most of them had the same story and I was actuallu getting the same e-mail from 2 different people. Upon chatting with them I got the same messages again from 2 different people. It’s quite sad – Things to looks out for: Words like: Mum, dear, babe..The ‘I’m getting out ‘ in 1-2 months. I also met a guy who like to fly ‘plains’ I told him if he flew them he would know how to spell it! I could go on and on – just go with your gut, and watch the grammar they use! If they ask you to leave the dating site and go to yahoo – RED FLAG – if they remove there profile the same day – RED FLAG.. If they tell you no to talk to anyone else – RED FLAG!
I also will call there sorry ass out and then they leave me alone!

Please don;t be so niave to send anyone money or anything if you have not yet met them!!!
Hope this helps in spotting them! I

  13. Does the name Col. Blackwell Gary, 3rd Infantry Division 74the MP.RD.IRAQ Tag #741 or 714 come across anyone?? Or can you tell if this a a legit military officer of the US Army??

  14. I do have pictures; however I found most of them on scam sites, singles dating sites, facebook and alot of different aliases and the funny thing is that this name Col. Blackwell Gary doesn’t show up on the sites…only the aliases?! I have a picture of what is to be believed it is his son, and of course he lost his wife to cancer, and has an aged mom who is taking care of his son here in the States as he calls it; although he claims he is back in the States and can’t wait to come to me….!!!

  15. i think i am being scammed im so ashamed his name is Robert Ferris Edwards although unlike all other milatery his middle name is on his uniform.
