Columbia Research Study

-Are you a current or former member of the military who became disabled while on active duty after January 1, 2006?

-Are you over the age of 18?

-Has your disability lasted or is it expected to last for at least one year?

If you answered YES to these questions, you may be eligible to participate in a research study about the Social Security Administration’s Disability Determination Process for wounded warriors. You do not have to be receiving Social Security Disability benefits to participate in this study. Information from the study will be used to improve the quality and effectiveness of services for disabled veterans.

The study will consist of a 60-minute interview. Interviews will be conducted by phone or at Columbia University School of Social Work (1255 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY). You do not need to reside in New York to participate. Participants will receive an incentive payment.

If you are interested and would like further information on participating, please contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Michelle Ballan, Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Dr. Ballan can be reached at 212-851-2221 or msb2008@columbia.edu.
