Admiral William H. McRaven and Special Operations Troops Receive 2012 American Patriot Award
The National Defense University Foundation (NDUF) recently honored the Men and Women of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), with the 2012 American Patriot Award. The award was presented at one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognized events – the American Patriot Award Gala. 600 guests including senior Administration officials, Members of Congress, senior military officers, ambassadors, and corporate and community leaders attended the event.
The men and women of USSOCOM were honored for their brave contributions to the ongoing global war on terrorism. Admiral William H. McRaven, command of USSOCOM, accepted the award on behalf of the members of his command. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was award-winning journalist Leon Harris, ABC7/WJLA-TV anchorman.
The National Defense University Foundation is a non-profit organization that has provided private sector support for the National Defense University in mission-oriented areas for 30 years.
